Ministry of Labor Says Recruitment Offers to Work in Israel are Illegal

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Labor says that Cambodia does not yet have an agreement to send workers from Cambodia to Israel. The ministry calls on citizens not to believe in any recruitment schemes that promise work in Israel as it amounts to human trafficking and is illegal.

The Ministry of Labor claims that it is currently working with Israel to discuss a draft Memorandum of Understanding on the recruitment and transfer of workers. In the event an agreement is reached, the Ministry will notify the public.

The Ministry advises anyone who sees recruiters advertising work in Israel to report it to the Ministry of Labor via Hotline: 1297 immediately so that the Ministry can follow up and take legal action.

Minister of Labor Heng Sour said that going to work in Israel through brokers or forging documents as a student is a crime and linked to human trafficking.
